  You can register online through the Ontario Business Registry or use a registered service provider. The process typically involves selecting a business name, choosing a business structure, and paying the registration fee.

• How much does it cost to register a business in Ontario?

  Fees vary by type:

  • Sole proprietorship or partnership: around $60–$80
  • Incorporation: starts at $300

• How long does it take to register a business?

  Most registrations are completed immediately or within 30 minutes if done online.

• Do I need a business license after registration?

  In many cases, yes. Depending on your location and industry, you may also need municipal or industry-specific licenses after registering.

• Can I register a business name that’s already in use?

  No. Business names must be unique and not confusingly similar to existing ones. A name search (NUANS report) is required to register your business

• Is a NUANS name search required for all business types?

  Yes,we need NUANS for business type. It’s not needed for numbered corporations.

• Do I need a CRA business number when registering?

  Yes, most businesses will need a CRA business number for taxes, payroll, HSY and import/export activities. This can be done after registering your business.
